Postcard 22: New Beginnings
Hello from New York.
The last week was quite the week for me, I ended a well-deserved vacation, and it was straight to business.
I resigned from my cushy, high-paying job to take a stab at entrepreneurship this last week. The thought of resigning a great job to start something, or join something pre-product, on just an idea, used to scare the bejesus out of me. I come from poverty, and that fear of going back to poverty has kept me risk-averse. The monster always chased me, but I finally decided to take the monster head-on and quit.
To go all-in on something.
This year, I have been through an incredible journey; what started out as writing online, this newsletter, blogging, and sharing on Twitter has contributed to this courage.
You find out that sharing publicly isn't so scary; you then find out that you can make some money on your own, you make some friends who are doing the same then suddenly you find yourself quitting your job. A hell of a transition and I appreciate you being apart of it with me via this newsletter.

This tweet thread by Shreyas summarizing some solid advice by Sahil who clarifies that Naval said learn to sell and learn to code is money. You'll do huge things in this world if you can do both right now.
I admire Christine a lot, her and I were in the same cohort of Write of Passage back in February and she is a boss. This tweet summarizes why. Her story is motivational to many of us that were not born with a silver spoon.
A solid thread by Zain on negotiating with some actionable examples from his own life and how he got a raise and gained leverage.

An amazingly well written and beautiful article about surviving Cancer.
There is this one part in Paul Grahams new essay about Weird Programming Languages that applies to so much more than programming:
"In the process of learning how to say things you couldn't previously say, you'll probably be learning how to think things you couldn't previously think."
You see I think that's also true about writing. By thinking hard and writing, you'll be able to think things you previously couldn't think.
What is server-side conversion tracking?
In what feels now like a previous life-time I used to do ad-tech and this article is a pretty good explanation of what's happening in the ad-tracking world.
