Good summary of the positives, Louie! You’re so right that have much for which to be grateful in America.
On the other hand, large segments of our governments (Federal, State, municipal), and our commercial and other institutions, are in the hands of people who no longer act on what works, but on what sounds good. That can only go on for so long.
I agree with you that America is anti-fragile, and that’s a good thing, because there are some big bumps in the road ahead.
I think you’re right Chris there are big problems, not just here but in the whole world right now. And lots of institutions here not doing their jobs properly.
And in the end i’m still convinced we will find ways to get it together.
Agree that America has a lot going for it but some people take that as proof that it doesn't need to improve from this point and even saying it needs to improve is against America.
There's a huge principal-agent problem with the government.
Also, thinking about the US in context of "practical delusions" — things that are useful to believe, even if they're unlikely to be true. Is it more useful to be an optimist who thinks the US is going downhill because you will work really hard to fight the perceived downturn or an optimist who thinks the US is doing great?
