Great piece Louie. I’m totally inspired by your ‘yanking’ yourself out of Walmart and promoting yourself to customer. It is generous of you to share your insights with all of us. Charlie’s wisdom about comparison being the thief of joy is priceless.

Thanks for reading it Phil. And for the nice comment.

And I fully agree, I hadn’t put much thought into “comparisons” and envy until after reading Charlie Mungers ideas about two years ago. Since then, i’ve thought a lot about it and I think he was spot on.

And comparisons drive a lot of other decisions in our life and lifestyle. If you stop comparing, people often find they can live on a lot less and be satisfied. Which supports the ‘small bets’ approach I think. Your aggregate small bets don’t have to crack $100k/month to keep you free if you can happily live on $15-$20k.

ah, so this is why I have to take naps everyday! maybe if my excited brain stopped waking me up at 4:30 am every morning I wouldn't have to. Love the 99 year upward slope. I'm shooting for it!

Excellent one Louie! It resonates with me since I think I went through the mid-life crisis years ago when I was 37-39. I turned 43 this week, and I remember being glad to have survived it.
