My phone was going off that morning, iMessage after iMessage. One read, "Great news, Louie, you're moving onto the next round. But we need to hurry. They're closing their series A and need you in there fast. Can you meet their whole engineering team today? They plan to drill you hard, so be ready!!"
ha ha, I kept reading and reading, thinking it was headed for a dream sequence, but the closer I got to the end I was thinking, damn, maybe he's really going back. good cliff hanger to the very end. glad for all of us that it was just a dream!
You had me! Lol but on a more serious note, this is a great read and excellent reflection exercise for anyone contemplating leaving (to visualize what going back to a 9-5 would look like).
You got me! Great storytelling.. I was hooked in to every sentence. This reminds me of a Jordan Peterson exercise where you write out your worst and best case scenario so you lucidly understand the stakes.. Would be cool to see another fictional essay that’s the opposite of this. What’s the absolute best case?
M&Ms: Failed Dreams
